DALLAS – The Dallas Mavericks lost against the Charlotte Hornets 123-120 in overtime. Dallas lost for the third time in its last four games. The Mavericks were without Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr. for the third straight game.

The Hornets had 20-point lead in the second quarter, but the Mavs recovered and lead by 12 points in the fourth quarter. But in the end too many mistakes resulted in an overtime loss.

Even Luka Dončić couldn’t prevent the loss. Dončić scored 39 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. This was his 10th triple-double of the season. The Slovenian guard and reigning NBA rookie of the year set a franchise record with his NBA-leading 10th triple-double of the season.

“We should have won in the fourth quarter,” Dončić said after the game. “I messed it up. I didn’t make great decisions – terrible decisions. I got to be better than that. The first quarter was bad, then we came back and in the fourth quarter, we didn’t do a good job.”

The Mavs will play their third game of season-high six-game homestand against the Chicago Bulls on Monday.
