Dončić triple-doubles, Mavs fall to the Kings
DALLAS – Luka Dončić recorded his seventh triple-double this season. 20-year-old scored 28 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists in 36 minutes. Unfortunately this wasn’t enough for the Dallas Mavericks to beat the Sacramento Kings. It was a close game, but the Kings won 125-121.
Dončić is now tied with Magic Johnson for the third-most triple-double by a rookie with seven. It was also the first time Dončić has had triple-doubles in consecutive games. “I’ll put it this way: He’s one of the top players in the game on a lot of levels,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. “He’s still young, he’s still learning, but his impact in undeniable.”
As the season is getting to the end the battle for the Rookie of the Year is closer between Dončić and Trae Young. “For me, the Rookie of the Year of course is important, but there’s a lot more things going on,” Dončić said. “It-s a long season here in the NBA. A lot of talking about that, and I’m just not interested in it. “
The Mavs will play the Miami Heat on Thursday. This will be the first time Dončić will play against his teammate from Slovenian national team Goran Dragić.
