After Luka Dončić missed the game against the Los Angeles Clippers with a non-serious hip injury, he continued his outstanding performance against the Portland Trail Blazers. Dončić who was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for October/November scored a team high 21 points, including a clutch step-back three to seal the victory for the Mavericks, 9 rebounds and three assists. “It means a lot. It’s just another example for me to keep working hard and keep fighting for what I want. There’s a lot to improve,” said Slovenian wunderkind about his first award in his short time in the NBA. He admitted he was playing videogame when he heard he was Rookie of the Month.

Dallas won 111-102. This was their eight victory in a row at home. The last time they were this successful was the year they won the NBA championship in 2011. “Our guys did a great job executing the defensive game plan. Which was not an easy game plan because we were chasing guys who are great players 30 to 40 feet away from the basket,” Coach Rick Carlisle said after the game.
