Dallas falls to Utah, Dončić sits out
SALT LAKE CITY – The Dallas Mavericks were without Luka Dončić for a second straight game because of a sore right ankle. Maxi Kleber was also out with an injury. The Mavs did their best against the Utah Jazz, but lost 125-109. Dirk Nowitzki was a starter for the first time this season and finished with a season-high 15 points.
Utah lead by double digits for most of the first half, but Dallas fought back and was down just three points at halftime. In the second half the Jazz pulled away for good. Ricky Rubio and Donovan Mitchell each scored 25 points for Utah. Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 21 points for Dallas, Tim Burke came off the bench and ended with 20 points. This was Dallas’ fourth straight loss.
The Mavs will visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday.
