WASHINGTON – The Dallas Mavericks lead for the most of the night, but lost against the Washington Wizards in final seconds after a game-winning layup from Bradley Beal. Washington won 119-118.
“We made a mistake on defense and they made a great play,” said coach Rick Carlisle. “But the game was lost throughout. We had too many miscommunications and it was a collection of defensive mistakes over 47 minutes and 58.2 seconds or whatever it was that led to this. Very disappointing.”
Seth Curry led the Mavs off the bench with 20 points.
Dallas dropped to 17-8 on the road and 31-21 overall.
Luka Dončić missed fifth straight game due to sprained right ankle. According to some reports he could return next week in one of the two home games before the All Star break.
“He is doing well,” Carlisle said. “He’s progressing on his rehab and recovery. It’s our hope he’ll be able to play at least one game before the All Star break.”
The Mavericks will visit the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.
